boys and their toys

Nana and Grandpa came to town for the big birthday, and Roanin was...shall we say pleasantly surprised by his gift.
He was so happy to share the love with his brother.  So funny...we told Rex to hold on around Roanin's waist...and that boy for once followed directions.  He was nearly doing the Heimlich maneuver.
Our yard became a racetrack in about 3 seconds with Callie and Cassie (the cousins) here too.

Sorry about the pink car, Rex.  I have a feeling I will hear about this picture when these guys are teenagers.
You don't think he is happy, do you?
The proud grandparents with their herd of kiddos.
Rex decided he was done with this photoshoot, and didn't care who was saying what.  Did I say he follows directions?  Cancel that.

Thanks for the four wheeler and the visit, Nanny and Grandpa!  We love you!

The Austin Getaway

Several weeks ago, we headed to the outskirts of Austin to meet Shawn's family on Lake Travis. It was delightful...full of family, food, and fun. Two of my three doing a little water time.
Our condo had it's own private beach to Lake Travis. HELLO. I could get used to this.
Yep, I actually got Rexy out in a kayak. He loved it, but HATED the life vest. I don't blame him...not real comfortable if you are a little, husky, shall we say.
The happy couple (although looking a little tired and frazzled).
Shawn's parents, in the pool. Again, I could get used to this.
My two favorite lap ornaments.
Love these boys.

Nana with all the grandkids on the boat we rented.

First fish of the day - my little man delivered.
Boating is the perfect excuse to nap, according to Rex.

Lake Travis....we ain't skkerrrddd....

This boy caught some fish. Seriously.

Come on....this is stinkin' cute.

Too much nap time, I mean boat time....time for a nap.

Nana and her favorite little chub.

The fearsome foursome.

I love this picture.

Callie, Cassie, and Roanin....gotta love cousins.
Thanks for a great vacation guys!

Visitors...

Shawn's parents (Nanny and Grandpa), his sister (Christy), her twin girls (Callista and Cassity) came to see the boys last weekend. Roanin had a blast catching up with his cousins, and Rex loved all the continued attention. We took the entire group the children's museum. Nanny and RoRo checking out the fish.
Rex doing one of his two favorite activities while everyone else is getting a little museum culture.

How sweet...Roanin left one little spider for Callie to play with, while he manhandled about twenty. We are working on the sharing thing...Rex meeting his Nana for the first time...he was very interested.

Mr. Rex at 5 weeks, getting some Nanny-love.

The twins LOVED baby Rex, and of course wanted to see if he felt the same as holding their baby dolls. Similar...maybe a little heavier - what do you think?

This picture cracks me up...the twins fighting over who gets to hold the baby, their mother trying to supervise while supporting Rex's head, Nanny waiting in the wings to try and maintain order, Roanin stockpiling the new cars he just got from his grandparents, and Rex screaming at the top of his lungs -- you know...just a normal evening at our house.

Grandpa and Rexy chattin' it up.
Thanks for a great visit you guys! We love you and miss you already!

Cousin Love

Roanin has gotten some bonding with his cousins lately...Roanin and I posing with Danielle at Roanin's first high school football game. Danielle cheered for her brothers (DJ and Derrick) on the sideline while we did our part in the stands.

Cousin Sophia came to town last week...and getting pictures of an 18 month old and a 10 month old proved to be a little more challenging. Here Roanin is trying out his Halloween hat, which Sophie thought was hilarious. I took about 20 pictures and surprisingly, this was the only one where both these munchkins were looking. Too bad they are both sporting the deer in the headlights look. Nice work on my part making it so blurry.

Again...no one likes the camera. Also -- sorry Josh and Kritta....it appears that I have gotten evidence of Roanin manhandling Sophie on film. :)
