A glimpse to the future

The livestock show is going on in Waco, where all the 4H kids show their cows, sheep and pigs. This is something Shawn did as a kid...and he wanted to take RoRo up to see what he thought of all the activity. Like father, like son - Roanin loved it. I think this will be something we will look into in the future for the little man. He didn't want to leave and chatted about it all afternoon. A little intimidated...not by the little goat, but the huge burly owner standing out of camera shot. All smiles when he is with Daddy. I wanted to include this shot even though he has his lunch all over his face and is doing his "bunny teeth" because it kind of shows this crazy new thing he does when he does his cheesiest smile. If you look closely, you can see he squints up his left eye more than the right and really hams it up. Such a cutie.

Can you see the dimple on that kid? Loving it...

Lunch on the lawn with Daddy. Doesn't get much better.

So comfortable now...telling the sheep who is boss.
Big man back at home doing a little light farm work.I have got a little cowboy - perfect for our life on the farm.

The Rvvvvr

The recent beautiful weather has allowed us to indulge two of Roanin's greatest obsessions - riding on the bike with Daddy and going to the river. With the river being within walking distance to our house, Roanin is very aware of where it is and makes daily requests to go to the "rvvvr." It is so darn cute when he says it...I can't help but give in.
The McCrabby face is due to Mommy's request for a picture, not due to the location. Daddy is always happy to oblige.

Throwing rocks is the highlight. For hours. Seriously.

Professor loves to go as well...and always comes home with some sort of treat. True to his breed (Blue Tick Coonhound) he successfully got a raccoon on this trip. Sorry to all the PETA fans out there.

There is a first time for everything...

Well...call us horrible un-fun and boring parents, but Roanin has never had a donut. So...last Saturday morning was the big day. Pj's still on -- we drove half and hour into town to go to Shipley's. He is obsessed with the chocolate donut with sprinkles on it in a book we have, so we thought it would be a instant hit. We also loaded his sippy up with chocolate milk, just knowing we would never be able to convince him to go back to the white stuff. Shawn and I just sat back and waited for sheer ecstasy followed by what could only be mayhem.

Surprisingly, this kid is not such a sweet fan. He picked a few sprinkles off, tried one bite of actual donut, and only ended up ingesting a bite of sausage off of Daddy's plate.

Good thing the poor kid has a pregnant mom to sweep in and clean up any leftovers. Bon appetite!

We Are Expanding!!

We are SO excited to announce that we are expecting a little brother or sister for Mr. Roanin this summer. We are thirteen weeks along, and the due date is July 19th. So far, things are going well...and we are very hopeful about the future. The morning sickness/crabbiness/blahs help me to feel like things are progressing along quite well (shouldn't those have ended last week? Looks like this one doesn't play by the rules).

This is a picture of the little one about a month ago, and we heard the heartbeat this week. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers...we feel so blessed!

The Lost Pictures

I found a roll of 35mm film I had, and so I developed it (and by that I mean took it to be developed...don't think I am crafty enough to develop my own). Here a few random pictures from the past that I thought were worth showing, even though they are dated. Our little family, my parents, Josh's family and my nephew Derrick all went out to the Heritage Farms Craft Fair the weekend of Thanksgiving. They had tons of crafts, animals, and some serious FOOD.
Ice cream break for the kiddos (and Sophie and Roanin as well!)
This one makes me laugh so hard. Sophie is such a cutie.

My idea was a cute picture by the fountain. Roanin's idea was to swim in the fountain.

Shawn's sister and brother came to visit on Thanksgiving weekend as well...and Roanin enjoyed seeing his twin cousins, Callista and Cassity, again.

Our view from our back door, this summer. Makes everything seem so cold and dreary now. Bring on spring...I am ready for ya!

A Day at the Zoo...

Shawn had the week off...so with the weather being so nice, the three of us headed to the zoo so I could try out the new camera I got from Santa.

Christmas Day at our house

We spent Christmas Day at our house, with Nana and Grandpa (Shawn's parents) coming to celebrate with us. Tractors were the theme of the year. Roanin is a HUGE fan.
All the boys setting up the new train set while the gals did the cooking. No forward thinking in this house...that is the way I like it.

Trying furiously to carry all six horses at once that Uncle Matty gave him.

Daddy reading a new book.
The money shot -- RoRo laying a sweet smooch on Nana's cheek.

Grandpa and Roanin playing one mean game of horses.

Everyone is gone...it is bedtime on Christmas Day and he is still under that tree looking for more. Ugh...next year is going to be even crazier.
