Happy Second Birthday Roanin!

Two years ago, on the day this little man came into the world, I never would have imagined I could ever love a little kid so much. But the second he arrived, he reworked my imagination. He showed up with these incredible blue eyes...ones that just dare you to try not to love him. He brought with him the most incredible smile, the cutest laugh, the sweetest dimples, the most hilarious sense of humor, and these chubby little arms that surprisingly give the most intense and loving hugs you could ever dream of. Even his biggest crocodile tears are sweet. Each day gets better and better. Every new stage convinces me that this is my new favorite.
Two years ago our lives completely changed. They will never be the same. Thank God.
We love you Roanin Luke Dunsmore. Happy Birthday.

Wonderfully Windy

Last weekend brought insane winds to our house, which on any normal day is no good. But Mommy just happened to have a super-mommy moment and had purchased a kite a few days earlier, which worked out perfectly with the warm, windy weather. This was RoRo's first kite experience, and the first in a long time for both Shawn and I....it proved hilarious and quite a workout for Shawn and I (having to run from the dive-bombs Roanin kept orchestrating).Right away, Roanin was not a fan of spectating...so we let him have the controls and he did great. I couldn't believe he could control it and was so into it. ps...check out Tuesday the cat trying to get in on the string action.

This last shot is of Shawn after he had to run about a quarter of a mile chasing the kite into the neighbor's pasture after Roanin finally let go of it. I can't believe it didn't happen earlier...but when it did -- it was hilarious. Shawn tried so hard to catch it. Went through some trees, over a fence and dodged several horses. What a Daddy!

Double Dating

Friday was a big day for the little man. We started the day with one girlfriend, and ended with another. Yikes....are these bad habits we are starting?Lydia Blue and Roanin...a date down at the river.
Roanin trying to impress Lydia Blue with his expert rock throwing skills. Sadly, many of the throws went unnoticed. What a gentleman....despite being unable to drive and pick his lady up, Roanin offered to push her around. Thanks Allison and Lydia Blue for a fun morning!
After a nap and some refueling, Roanin was ready for date #2 of the day -- dinner with Jaycie and her parents, Rusty and Ali.Roanin evidently hasn't gotten the memo that it is not cool to have your parents on the date with you. We will milk this for all it is worth for as long as we can. "Hey lady...watch my ticklish spot."

Sharing stickers over the table at dinner (a sign of true love).

The walk out of the restaurant was priceless, which explains why I have so many darn pictures of it. Imagine what all the poor people in these booths thought as this huge pregnant girl is doing acrobatics trying to stay ahead of this little couple to get some pictures. Ahh....motherhood.

No night is complete without the goodnight kiss. Thank goodness Roanin bypassed the lips...after all, this is his second date of the day!

All in a day's work

Roanin has quite the life. Lately, his day consists of waking up when he pleases, lounging in Mom and Dada's bed until breakfast, a little food, a little construction/playtime, lunch, nap, more outside time, dinner, and bed. Come on...who could ask for more? The leisurely way to get up....won't even make eye contact with the camera.
Helping Papa move the lumber for the construction with the tractor -- a Roanin favorite. Checking on the hired help to see how the building is going.

More tractor work and even time for a wave for Mommy this time.

Roanin having a snack on the front porch (easy to shout orders from here) as Papa handles any ladder duty from here on out.

RoRo's favorite part of the day....when Dada gets home. Roanin immediately clobbers him, as you can see. Shawn didn't even get past the front door, and Roanin had him down.
What a day!
