Ro Ro visits the Phipps

Roanin and I made a quick trip to the Arlington area to have a slumber party with Steph and her family. Roanin loved hanging out with her kids...especially the girls. We had a great time. Roanin's favorite was the dance/jump fest on Steph's bed with Maddie and KK. Brendan and Chris were around...but somehow didn't make it into any of the pictures. Sorry guys!Kaitlin, Roanin (trying to make a quick escape due to the camera being pointed at him) and Maddie Moo. Kathy (Steph's mom) playing peek-a-boo with Roanin on the girl's bed. He was loving it. He had enough of peek-a-boo...he decided to attack.
Me and the two beautiful Phipps girls.Mommy Phipps and her little sidekicks. KK was so good with Roanin and he even let her carry him around (which is more than I can say for many of the adults that he meets).

Getting a little love from Aunt Steph. His look of "I want outta here" should not be interpreted as disapproval of Steph, but annoyance of Mommy and her camera.

The Garden

Here are a few pictures of the garden I planted several weeks ago. I started everything except the tomatoes from seed, so there hasn't been anything too interesting to look at until now. With all the rain we have been having, things are finally starting to show themselves. We will see how it turns out... I have corn, tomatoes, jalapenos, bell peppers, cantaloupe, squash, cucumber, carrots, lettuce, okra, beans, brussel sprouts, dill, cilantro, chives, and basil.

I Love Being a Mother Day

A few pictures from a GORGEOUS Mother's Day in Texas. Roanin was so sweet and even got me flowers, clothes, a card, and lots of love. Roanin proclaiming his love for his Mommy. Pictures of the little man are getting increasingly more difficult. He turns his head as soon as he sees the camera, and can usually only be photographed while in motion. No posed shots allowed.
Gotta move, Mommy.
The best of friends...I love this little man.

A day at the river

With the weather being so nice, we have been taking advantage of the river that is right by our house. Here are a few shots from our little expedition on Saturday. Roanin got up close and personal with the water.
I love this picture. All my boys (Ickabod is of course by my side) scouting out the river. Look at Roanin's little muddy feet. Off we go...into the wild blue (or brown...whichever is appropriate) yonder.

When Shawn first put Roanin in the water, he was a little apprehensive. He has a firm grip on Shawn's hand.
But before too long, Roanin wanted a little independence (his hand ON TOP of Daddy's).

Gotta cool my bum.

By the end, he was all over the place. "Let's go deeper, Dad!"

Our Neighbor's Wedding

Our neighbor got married this last weekend. Some of you might have heard about it. We are in the Crawford school district, and live fairly close to the President's ranch...where Jenna Bush got married. There were so many Apache helicoptors flying over our house all day, so Shawn, Roanin and I got crafty and decided to try and send Jenna (or one of the major news stations....whichever may happen to pay attention) a message. We bought 25 lbs. of flour and went to town. Above is the final product. Below is the process, which turned out to be quite hilarious given we were working with a walking toddler.Roanin....future baker? Helping Daddy get into the flour.

Directing where the letters should go.

Mommy and her little helper. Notice the mark indicating where he decided to sit down on the "C" in Congrats.

Redneck Swimming Pool

It has been VERY warm lately, which has resulted in making a swimming pool for Roanin in the yard. Although it looks frightning and a little too country....he LOVES it.
Mr. Serious getting down to some swimming business.

Helping Mommy fill it up (although he prefers the water hose spraying outside the pool)."Cool...I found the end of this green thing! I think I should get a better look at the little metal hole at the end of this thing..."

This was actually followed by the biggest grin and about 10 mintes of spraying himself over and over.

"Forget that speedo my mom forced me to wear...I like to be NAKED!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Dad providing a little censorship so this blog actually remains legal.

Roanin's 1st 5K

Sarah's family got together to run the Race For the Cure in Waco last weekend. It was a really good time, and everyone did really well. Derrick, my nephew the track star, beat everyone and wasn't afraid to remind everyone how well he did. The happy family.Mommy and Daddy...who do you think is faster?

My mom, niece Danielle, and some friends ready to start the race.

Papa finishing the race with the best prize in the world in his arms.

The family before the race -- Shawn, Sarah, Roanin, Papa, Grandma, Danielle, and Derrick.

Daddy and Roanin warming up (literally) before the race. It was SO COLD that morning.

Roanin checking the tire pressure on the jogging stroller before the race. He is such a helper.

Mommy pushing the Prince during the race.

Another family shot
Roanin enjoying some pancakes after the race. This turned out to be his favorite part of the morning.

Wiped out after his huge athletic undertaking - he can't even hold his sippy by himself. What a life.

Our baby with spots

We recently got some bad news about our darling Ickabod. We now know that he has a brain tumor, which is the cause of his frequent seizures, inability to control his bladder, and SEVERE anxiety. The vet does not know how big the tumor is or how quickly it will grow, but feels sure that it will be the eventual cause when we lose our baby. Ick is holding in strong...he is still really happy as long as he can be with his mom at all times and as long as we are able to let him outside in the 3 second window of time between when he decides he needs to go to the bathroom and when he actually starts to go. We love him more than ever, though, and are committed to doing whatever we can to take care of him during this tough time. We will keep you updated on his health.
Please keep Ickabod and our family in your prayers. He needs all that he can get.

Visiting the Twins...

I went to visit Amy, Kyle and their new twins this past weekend. The entire family is doing well, and the girls are SO CUTE. They are so little! I got all sweaty and nervous trying to help with them...looks as if I have gotten a little out of practice with babies (given the fact that I have a man-child). Congrats, you guys, on two little beauties!Aunt Sarah with Nixon (she was not thrilled about this situation).Aunt Sarah with Ripley (I would love to say she was thrilled, but I think the more appropriate word is asleep). Mommy taking a SHORT and well deserved break from the two little cuties.
